Welcome to On the Book Shelf, a bookish blog that focuses on book reviews, thoughts and other book related content, run by me, Hollie! I am 23 years old, and from the South of England.
A few facts about me…
- I have loved reading for as long as I can remember, and some of my childhood favorites include the Madeline books by Ludwig Bemelmans, all of the Beatrix Potter books, as well as Roald Dahl’s stories.
- I love literature so much that I decided to study it at university, having completed my degree with First-Class honors in 2019!
- Some of my favorite books of ALL time include Charlotte Brontë’s Jane Eyre, Oscar Wilde’s The Picture of Dorian Gray, Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, and Sapiens, by Yuval Noah Harari.
- I am slightly obsessed with the Penguin Clothbound Classics series, and currently have six, though there is definitely room for more.
- Although I will read pretty much anything, my favorite genres include classics, romcoms, thrillers, and historical fiction.
- As well as reading, I also love travelling, and over the past several years I have visited almost 30 different countries, and have lived in both the Channel Islands, and Rome, Italy!
- I am currently a freelance writer, and work with several different travel blogs and websites.
